PEORIA, Ariz. -- Maricopa County sheriff's detectives have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run that injured two adults and a child last weekend in Peoria.

Eric Nunez, 32, was booked into jail Friday on five felony charges, including aggravated assault and fleeing the scene of an accident.

Detectives said Nunez was driving the pickup truck that struck three pedestrians on 115th Avenue near Happy Valley Road Saturday night.

Cam Nelson, 35, her 6-year-old son and Lance Taylor were walking their bicycles in the dirt area of the west shoulder when they were hit at about 10 p.m.

Taylor and the boy were not seriously injured. Nelson remains in a local hospital where she is reportedly in fair condition.

Detectives found the truck on Wednesday after it was taken to a Valley dealership for repair.

"We did some good police work. We were able to track down the vehicle thanks to tips," said sheriff's office spokesman Chris Hegstrom.

Detectives told dealerships to be on the lookout for a damaged 2014 Chevrolet half-ton, four-door pickup truck. They identified the vehicle through a rear-view mirror and shattered headlight left at the scene.

The sheriff's office said when detectives responded to the dealership, they found Nelson's flip-flop wedged in the step up to the truck bed.

According to court documents, Nunez told detectives his truck was damaged while parked in front of his home.

Nunez has two DUIs on his record but it is unclear if impairment was a factor in this crash.
