Phoenix police investigate deadly shooting

PHOENIX -- Police are investigating a shooting in a Phoenix neigborhood that left a man dead Thursday night.

Police officers responded to the area of 33rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road after gunfire was reported.

Officers found Leoncio Larranaga, 33, inside a Chrysler 300. He had been shot several times and was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said two vehicles were seen in the area during the time frame the shooting occurred. Police don't know if they have any involvement in this incident. One vehicle is described as a white Ford Lightning pickup truck and the other is a white Chevy Tahoe with a silver or black trim strip on it and may have large custom wheels.
