PHOENIX -- Two teens accused of killing a Valley landscaper while drag racing are now being charged with manslaughter.

Jose Gonzalez, 17, and Esteban Chavez Jr., 16, are being charged as adults.

Octavio Grijalva Herrera, 61, died on Sunday after he was critically injured in the March 26 chain-reaction crash.

Police said the teens were street racing near 52nd Street and Thomas Road when Gonzalez, who was driving a Mustang, allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with an exterminator's pickup truck.

That truck crashed through a block wall and into a yard where Herrera was mowing the lawn.

Police said Chavez fled the scene in the Chevrolet Avalanche he was driving but was later taken into custody.
