PHOENIX -- A strong ridge of high pressure continues to build into the desert Southwest. As a result, we’re expecting the warmest temperatures so far this year, with some desert locations getting to about 100 degrees.

However, while we expect temps in the mid- to upper-90s in the Valley, we don’t think we’ll get to the 100-degree mark this week.

Toward the weekend, a storm system passing to the north of Arizona will cool us back down into the 80s. Then next week, we warm right back up. For the record, the average first 90 occurs on April 2, so we’re a little bit behind on that.

Last year we got to 90 pretty early on March 14. And when is the average first 100-degree reading? May 12.
