Man shot outside Phoenix home

PHOENIX -- A man was rushed to a hospital after he was shot outside a Phoenix home early Sunday morning.

It happened about 2 a.m. near 43rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

Police did not say whether the man was shot by an officer or civilian but confirmed his injuries were not self-inflicted.

He was taken to the John C. Lincoln trauma center by ambulance in unknown condition.

A large Samurai sword was lying in the driveway near where the man was shot.
