AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Police are searching for a man who kidnapped a teen while she was waiting for a school bus in Avondale.

The 16-year-old girl was reportedly abducted about 6:30 a.m. Monday near 108th Avenue and Roosevelt Parkway. The man brandished a weapon and threatened her, according to police.

About noon on Tuesday, Avondale police received a call from a citizen whom the teen had contacted for help.

The teen reportedly told police she was given something to drink while riding in the man's car, became light-headed and passed out. She woke up in an unknown location, and walked to a residential area and asked for help.

The suspect is described as a white man and in his mid 30s, weighing between 200 and 250 pounds. He has a light blond mustache and light brown or green eyes.

At the time of the abduction, the man was wearing a gray baseball hat backward, light blue jeans with dried paint drops, and dark brown work boots.

The man's car is described as an older model red pickup truck with two doors. It has a gray stripe on the side that ends in a "Z" pattern. A lawn mower covered with a tan-colored tarp was being hauled in the truck bed.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Avondale Police Department at 623-333-7000 or their local police jurisdiction.
