PHOENIX (AP) -- A former school bus aide for a Phoenix school district has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in a child-sex case.

A Maricopa County Superior Court spokeswoman says Judge Bruce Cohen on Tuesday also placed 72-year-old Andres Rodriguez Mendoza on lifetime probation.

Mendoza pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted child molestation.

He was accused of molesting an 11-year-old special needs student and was originally booked on multiple counts of molestation of a child and sexual conduct with a minor.

He had worked for the Washington School District for seven years.
