GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Motorists can now enjoy new highway entrances and exits near University of Phoenix Stadium, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

ADOT announced that it had scheduled new HOV-lane ramps on State Route 101 at Maryland Avenue to open Friday night.

The ramps will give drivers improved access to the Westgate Entertainment Center, which includes the stadium and Jobing.com Arena.

Crews began work on the $11.7 million project in October under an accelerated construction schedule, ADOT said.

The new ramps were a joint project between ADOT, the city of Glendale and the Maricopa Association of Governments.

Construction was completed as the Valley and University of Phoenix Stadium prepare for Super Bowl XLIX in February 2015.
