PHOENIX -- Excitement over Friday’s Phoenix Suns game ended up being stolen by a fan who made the half-court shot and won $77,777.

“It was pretty amazing,” said Tim Boven, the lucky fan from Peoria who nailed the shot.

"We were just kind of taking it easy and then this guy in a suit comes up and asks me a couple questions," Boven said.

After confirming that he was over 21 and did not work for Casino Arizona, Boven was asked if he wanted to take the half-court shot.

"I said, 'Yes, I definitely want to do that,' " Boven recalled.

He had three options: a free-throw for $777, a three-pointer for $7,777 or half-court for $77,777. He said the choice was easy.

“All the people that are involved were like, 'What are you going to shoot?' ... and I was like, 'I'm doing half-court,' ” Boven said.

Even the Suns players cleared their seats to congratulate Boven on his awesome shot.

“I will give some money to my church and then from there, pay off loans or pay off some debt," he said. "We'll see. I've got some decisions I've got to make with it.”
