PHOENIX (AP) -- Two men have been convicted in the armed robbery of a Phoenix jewelry store and a freeway shooting during a police chase.
Maricopa County prosecutors say jurors on Thursday found 27-year-old Adan J. Orduno and 26-year-old Jonathan Jesse Corrales guilty in the October 2011 case.
Corrales was convicted of armed robbery, theft, unlawful flight, aggravated assault, attempted first-degree murder, misconduct involving weapons and drive-by shooting.
Orduno was found guilty of the same charges plus one count of unlawful flight. He escaped from his cell in a Phoenix jail in November 2012 before being apprehended hours later.
The 2011 robbery escalated into a police chase on State Route 51.
As officers pursued Orduno and Corrales, one of them leaned out the passenger window and fired a shotgun at the police car.
