PHOENIX -- A woman was in extremely critical condition Wednesday night after her car was cut in half in a collision with a city bus.

It occurred on Cave Creek Road near Peoria Avenue in Phoenix.

The woman was driving a classic Ford Thunderbird south on Cave Creek Road when she traveled into the northbound lanes for unknown reasons and collided with the Valley Metro bus, Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said.

She was transported to a hospital as a trauma code.

Three people riding on the city bus were also taken to a hospital but are expected to be OK.

A black Chrysler was also involved in the collision but not hit as badly as the bus and Thunderbird.

The collision is still under investigation.
