PHOENIX -- As a cold front approached the state, we saw very high winds and blowing dust in many portions of Northern Arizona.
Winslow had a peak wind gust of 69 mph, Two Guns east of Flagstaff reported a gust of 66 mph, and Springerville got up to 60 mph.
In the Valley, the strong winds really didn’t materialize as expected.
The highest wind gust was on top of South Mountain at 37 mph. Many other locations, including Chase Field, Gilbert and Sun City reported peak wind speeds of 30 mph.
Now that the cold front is moving through, we’ll see seasonally cool temperatures the next couple of days.
In the Valley, that translates into highs only in the 70s for Thursday and Friday. However, by the weekend, we’ll be back in the mid 80s.
