PHOENIX -- Ride AZ Promotions is hosting a benefit ride on Sunday morning on behalf of the 100 Club of Arizona to benefit the family of Detective John Hobbs, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this month.

Sign-in is 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the Sandbar at Desert Ridge Marketplace. Kickstands go up at noon.

With a police escort, more than 600 motorcycles will take an 81-mile ride through the county, ending up at the Hideaway Grill in Cave Creek.

There will be a live auction and a raffle with a variety of prizes, including a guitar signed by Alice Cooper, a Tiffany bracelet and weapons donated by Dillon Precision.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the 100 Club of Arizona, which has a single goal -- to provide "financial assistance to families of public safety officers and firefighters who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty." The organization has been "standing behind the men and women who stand behind the badge since 1968."

A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the 100 Club raises money through dues from its more than 2,000 members, charitable campaigns -- like Sunday's ride -- endowments and donations.
