Phoenix weather: Windy weekend

PHOENIX -- A strong but dry storm system is bringing windy weather to Arizona Saturday.

The Valley has seen sustained winds between 10 and 20 mph with higher gusts, while even stronger winds were blowing through the high country.

Gusts peaked near 60 mph in parts of Eastern Arizona today, and a wind advisory is in effect until late tonight and early tomorrow morning.

A dust storm warning is also in effect for parts of Reservation Country in the northeast corner of the state until 8 p.m., including Kayenta and Chinle.

A red flag warning was in effect until tonight for parts of Southern Arizona including Tucson, and the Colorado River Valley in Western Arizona.

Winds are expected to ease up overnight and be a bit lighter statewide tomorrow.

The Valley topped out at 84 degrees today, which is 7 degrees above normal.

Look for clear skies tonight with breezy conditions and an overnight low of about 55 degrees.

Sunshine can be expected Sunday with a Valley high of about 82 degrees.

Next week also looks warm and dry with temperatures peaking in the low 80s.
