MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- A Mesa man is in custody for allegedly hitting a former roommate in the head with a skateboard.
Mesa police say 31-year-old Aaron Schenk was booked into jail Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument.
They say Schenk was on the Metro light rail platform on Feb. 11 and waited for 31-year-old Paul Tulao to show up for an arriving rail car.
Surveillance footage allegedly showed Schenk following Tulao inside the car and striking him with a skateboard.
Tulao tried to defend himself by wrapping his arms around Schenk, who then began punching.
Police say Schenk walked off the car and fled.
They say Schenk told officers he attacked Tulao because he had kicked him out of a house after Schenk had paid $500 to stay there.
