PHOENIX -- A weak area of low pressure will track into Arizona from the west starting Thursday, bringing a chance of showers to the high country and cloudy skies for the Valley. Winds will also be gusty at times.

Wednesday afternoon included abundant sunshine and warm temperatures in the Phoenix-metro area. Sky Harbor International Airport reported an afternoon high of 83 degrees after a morning low of 54 degrees. The normal high temperature for this date is 76 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to drop off a couple of degrees in the Valley for Thursday. Look for a high of about 80 degrees in Phoenix after a morning low of 54 degrees as clouds fill the sky.

This area of low pressure is expected to bring isolated showers across Northern Arizona Thursday afternoon, then across central Arizona Friday afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible. The Valley should stay dry with a high Friday of 79 degrees.

Once the system tracks out of Arizona, high pressure will rebuild in from the west for a weekend warm-up. The Phoenix metro area should see highs back to the mid 80s under sunny skies for Saturday.
