GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) -- Eight female inmates at the state prison in Perryville escaped injury after the van they were riding in was rear-ended by a car near Goodyear.

Authorities say the accident occurred Tuesday morning and the driver who rear-ended the van suffered minor injuries.

The prisoners were on their way to a work site near Goodyear.

Arizona Department of Corrections officials say the prisoners were put on another van after the accident and taken back to the state prison complex west of Phoenix.
