PHOENIX  -- She came from a puppy mill, but now she's ready to find her forever home.

Tuesday we met Starla, a Pomeranian mix, who came from a puppy mill. "They're pretty tough conditions for the dogs," says Shannon Nalley of the Arizona Animal Welfare League. "They're just used for breeding and to make money."

Starla was kept in a cage most of her life. "She never really knew human attention or affection; she'd never been walked," says Nalley. "But she loves people. She loves to go on a walk. She loves to be brushed. She's kind of a princess. So if you're looking for a dog that just wants to hang out in your lap and is really great with other dogs, then she's going to be a wonderful dog."

Nalley says sometimes dogs that come from puppy mills need a little special training, since they're not used to being leashed or walked.

So far, Starla is taking to her training like a champ. "She's a really mellow dog." says Nalley. "She does like to play, but she's middle aged so she's mellow. She'd be really great for someone looking for a dog who's not too active."
