PHOENIX -- Police are searching for the driver of a van that hit and killed a man who was crossing the street early Tuesday morning.

It happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Indian School Road just east of the 38th Avenue.

According to Officer James Holmes of the Phoenix Police Department, a 28-year-old Indian man was crossing the street mid-block when a white full-size van hit him.

Holmes said the driver of that van did not stop and render aid as required by law. Leaving the scene of  fatal wreck is a felony.

The driver of a car that was behind the van saw everything. That driver called 911.

Paramedics pronounced the victim, who has not been identified, dead at the scene.

Police are looking for the van that hit and killed the man. They say it will likely have front-end damage and are asking the public to be on the lookout.
