Family's home flooded after weekend stormPosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Cleanup continues after the weekend storm.
Scottsdale is one of the places that the storm hit hard.
The Secody family said they left their home for two hours, and when they came back, their home was flooded.
"It was just flowing in from the street from Thomas Road,” said Trina Secody. “It seemed like our house was the drainage."
Trina and Eli Secody said they went out for a jog and took a quick trip to the mall, and when they got back home, "there was about a foot and a half of water," she said. "We couldn't even see that lawn mower last night. This bike was half-way in the water, our lawn mower we couldn't even see," said Trina Secody.
"When we opened the door, our whole entire house was flooded about two inches." Trina Secody said they did their best to take out some of their belongings. "It was really devastating,” she said.
“Never experienced anything like this…never think that our house would flood with the first thunderstorm."
They're cleaning up what they can.
"This morning we washed off the water marks which were up here where you can still see some brown residue," she said.
They hired a company to help drain out the water. There are driers and dehumidifiers in their home working to do the trick.
"We just didn't expect to be left without a home. Now, they're predicting that it's not liveable," she said.
Now they're trying to figure out what to do next.
"We're just going to take it day by day," she said.
Secody said they were told not to stay in their home for at least two weeks until the amount of damage this water did to the home is determined.
She said she'll be working with her insurance company, but she hopes she won't have to uproot her family for too long.
