PHOENIX -- Heavy rains and thunderstorms were the norm in Southern California on Friday and much of that weather is headed into Arizona.

Showers extended along the Colorado River into Northern Arizona Friday afternoon. The showers are spreading eastward and once they arrive in the Valley, we can expect about 24 hours of some pretty wet weather.

Rainfall projections have trended a bit drier today but still, we’re seeing expecting about .75 inch around the Valley through Sunday morning. That would be great since we haven’t had measurable rain since Dec. 20.

Snowfall numbers are not going to be that impressive because this is a warm storm. Most of the precipitation in the mountains will be in the form of rain.

Only late in the storm will the air be cold enough to introduce 2 to 6 inches of snow around Flagstaff and along the Mogollon Rim to the White Mountains. No winter weather advisories have been issued for Northern Arizona.
