PHOENIX -- A hearing is scheduled to decide the fate of a pit bull that bit a young boy in the face last week.

Micky was chewing on a bone when the 4-year-old tried to take it away.

The boy's mom said it happened outside his baby sitter's house near Central Avenue and Broadway Road in Phoenix.

The little boy is in the hospital with broken bones in his face.

The petitioner has asked that the dog be euthanized, according to Melissa Gable with Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.

The court date is scheduled for March 13 at Phoenix Municipal Court.

The pit bull is in quarantine until Sunday. After that he will be kept at Animal Care and Control until the court renders its decision.
