PHOENIX -- It hasn’t rained in Phoenix since Dec. 20, a dry spell that will finally end this weekend.

Scattered showers will be developing around the Valley by Friday night and the rain will become heavy at times by Saturday night. We may even see some embedded thunderstorms.

Forecast maps are showing the potential for 1 inch of rain at most Valley locations by Saturday night, with some areas likely seeing more than that.

The storm will also bring a drop in temperatures. We’re expecting highs only in the 60s Saturday and Sunday. It hasn’t been that cool since the beginning of February.
