Probiotic treatment can lead to younger-looking skinPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- We've heard of taking "probiotics" for your health. But have you ever heard of putting them on your skin? It's a new trend that's picking up speed, promising to make you look and feel younger.
"What this does is, it stimulates your immune system," says beauty expert Therese Clark. "So you have an increase in collagen production, less photo damage over time."
That translates to a smoother, younger-looking face. A new probiotic treatment for your skin is now available. "My Body " is the company that makes it, but there are several similar products on the market.
Clark says probiotics rebuild skin and repair damage. "You really need to rebuild the skin for two reasons," says Clark. "The number one sign of aging is thinning skin. Then you're out in an environment where there are environmental toxins, and that can wreak havoc on the skin and actually increase the aging process.
She says we can all benefit from probiotics, but is especially good for woman who get peels or exfoliate.
Probiotic drinks and supplements can also help us glow. "It's skin-compatible Vitamin C that gives you that glow and wakes up tired skin," says Clark. If your skin seems dull, invest in a highlighting makeup and a good blush.
