SAN LUIS, Ariz. -- Authorities arrested a 49-year-old Mexican national and her two sons, ages 18 and 19, on suspicion of attempting to smuggle more than 25 pounds of methamphetamine across the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Customs and Border Protection agents arrested the three suspects after referring their car for additional inspection, according to authorities. A drug-sniffing dog alerted the agents to drugs hidden in the car, and they found 14 packages of meth worth more than $390,000.

The mother and her two sons were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, authorities said, and the drugs they are suspected of smuggling were seized.
