Phoenix weather: Rain and snow possible by the weekend
By Tami Hoey
PHOENIX -- A strong Pacific storm system is going to make its way into Arizona on Saturday, bringing snow to northern Arizona and scattered showers to the deserts.
The system will also bring some windy conditions at times and also a drop in temperatures. The greatest chance for rain in metro Phoenix will be Saturday afternoon/evening through Sunday morning.
At this point, the models are telling us most neighborhoods around town could see about one-fourth of an inch of rain. If it occurs, it will be the first rain since Dec. 20, 2013, at Sky Harbor Airport.
We’re also expecting highs to drop from the 80s, where we’ll be the next few days, into the upper 60s. In northern Arizona, we’re going to be dealing with snow above the 5,500 foot level.
And while it’s a bit early to nail down snowfall amounts, there’s a decent chance some areas at 7,000 feet and above will get at least six inches of snow.
