Hiker affected by heat airlifted from Camelback Mountain

PHOENIX -- A man was airlifted from Camelback Mountain Sunday afternoon after suffering from heat-related medical issues, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Phoenix firefighters responded about 3 p.m. and found the man, who is in his 30s, on the Echo Canyon Trail near the top of the mountain.

He was flown off the mountain by helicopter and reuinted with family members.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Ruben Saavedra said this one of two mountain rescues in Phoenix Sunday involving heat-related medical issues.

The fire department is reminding hikers to hydrate and know their physical capabilities.
