PHOENIX -- A teenage boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being shot outside his home, police said.
The 16-year-old boy went outside his home near 55th and Campbell avenues Saturday night to talk to three people, who were reportedly in a gray or gold Kia.
"One single shot was heard," Phoenix police Lt. Johnathon White said. "He went down, the Kia sped off eastbound, and then one of the occupants of the house came over and grabbed the young man, and pulled him to safety in the front yard."
He was reportedly shot in the torso.
Police were still searching for the shooter Sunday morning. Investigators believe the boy knows the person.
Police are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related.
