PHOENIX -- Hundreds of happily married couples renewed their vows Friday while singles shamed their exes at anti-Valentine's Day events.

About 650 couples gathered around the lake in Fountain Hills for the ceremony, including Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his wife, Ava. They have been married 57 years.

Couples posed for wedding photographers and some women wore their wedding dresses for the occasion.

Meanwhile, another crowd took a very different approach to the holiday.

Hula's Modern Tiki restaurants in Phoenix and Scottsdale held anti-Valentine's Day events for Valley singles.

"We want to provide an environment for the bitter, the forlorn, the sad, the heartbroken," Owner Dana Mule said.

The love-scorned brought photos of former flames and pinned them on an oversized voodoo doll cake.

"The guy that I'm pinning on this cake has given me nothing but hell," Valerie Tolliver said.
