PHOENIX (AP) -- One of two ex-convicts arrested in the 2008 drug-related shooting death of an Arizona State University student has pleaded not guilty in the case.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 29-year-old Rory Gene Coriell entered his plea Thursday. His initial pretrial conference is scheduled for April 2.
Coriell and another man were arrested last month in Phoenix on suspicion of first-degree murder in the killing of 25-year-old Zachary B. Rowe.
Firefighters found Rowe's body in a burning home on Dec. 23, 2008. An autopsy determined he died from a bullet wound to the head.

Authorities say large amounts of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the home.
Chandler police investigators say they learned that Rowe was a marijuana dealer and his home was targeted for a burglary.
