Rescue dog finds owner's diamondPosted: Updated:
PEORIA, Ariz. -- A puppy named Lily was was once searching the beaches of Rocky Point for her next meal. Now, she's deemed a diamond-finding dog.
"She was in really bad shape," said her new owner, Leon Jimenez.
Jimenez said when he met the puppy she was so hungry you could see her ribs.
"She was horribly bad off," he said. "She had some mange. She was really skinny."
Jimenez took Lily to the vet and then took her home to Peoria. Now, he's really glad he did. His wife's diamond in her wedding ring went missing in September.
They searched everywhere and finally gave up and replaced the diamond. Then a couple of days ago, Leon saw something sparkly where Lily keeps her toys. There, on the patio, was Adriana's $10,000 diamond.
The couple said the find just solidified Lily's new place in the family.
"We weren't sure if we were going to keep her or not because we already have two other dogs and that was her way of saying 'Mama, keep me because I love you,' so she's a keeper," Adriana said.
She said it was a loose prong that sprung her diamond loose.
