GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A man knocked on an apartment door at a complex near Bethany Home Road and 61st Avenue Monday night and cut the resident with a knife, according to the Glendale Police Department.
Sgt. Jay O'Neill said the 21-year-old resident answered the door at approximately 11 p.m. At some point, the suspect produced what is believed to have been a large knife and began to cut the victim. He then fled on foot.
Witnesses inside the apartment feared for their safety and fled.
Police set up a perimeter but were not able to locate the suspect.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
O'Neill said it appears that the victim does not know the suspect, who is described as a white male in his 30s with blond curly "scraggly" hair and a beard. He is approximately 6 feet tall and between 230 and 250 pounds.
The suspect was wearing dark clothing and a dark trench coat at the time of the incident.
