PHOENIX (AP) -- A man accused in the death of his girlfriend whose naked body was found dumped on a Tempe street has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 27-year-old Douglas Ray George entered his plea Thursday.
His pre-sentence hearing is scheduled March 14.
George originally pleaded not guilty in the case.
Investigators believe 23-year-old Annovedwin Begay-Barakzai was killed at a different location than where her body was found by a passer-by last June 15.
She wasn't identified for weeks and authorities say an autopsy determined Begay-Barakzai died from blunt force trauma.
Authorities say Begay-Barakzai had fractured ribs, a lacerated liver and numerous stab wounds to her face and chest.
Police say George and Begay-Barakzai lived together in Tempe and he was arrested earlier last June for domestic violence assault.
