PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix firefighters escaped injured when the roof of a burning warehouse came down soon after the firefighters stayed outside after deciding the building couldn't be saved.
Firefighters say the warehouse south of the state Capitol has long been vacant and that nobody was injured.
Fire Capt. Noah Galligan says firefighters wouldn't have survived if they had been inside when the roof collapsed.
Galligan says the bowed construction of the roof made it prone to collapse if one part fails.
Cause of the Wednesday morning fire is under investigation.
