Valley restaurant guru Sam Fox honored by peersPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Valley restaurant creator Sam Fox is enjoying some national recognition. He's been named to Nation's Restaurant News' list of the top 50 most influential people in food service.
Jaime Cerreta got to meet up with him in the kitchen of his newest venture, "Henry", on 44th Street and Camelback.
"I was working on the fixtures in my house and there's a water fixture in the house called the Henry," Fox explained about coming up with the name for his newest restaurant.
"I started out washing dishes when I was eight years old, and I peeled potatoes," he said of his start in the food world. The second generation restaurateur grew his business from one restaurant, to 14 different concepts in 38 locations.
Zinburger, Arrogant Butcher, Culinary Dropout and Blanco are just a few members of the Fox Restaurant Concepts family.
Now with the accolades from Nation's Restaurant News, you can probably expect to hear even more about his restaurants. "I was surprised, and there are some great names on that list," he says. "That's nice to be looked at by my peers as someone who's setting trends."
The trend of healthy food can be found at Fox's True Food Kitchen. Everything on the menu is healthy and tastes great. "We're really finding with True Food that we're appealing to so many people, and they're really enjoying the experience," he says.
Growth is in the future for Fox, who will soon be expanding outside Arizona, Here in our state, look for his new restaurant, Flower Child, a fast-casual version of True Food.
