Woman arrested after boyfriend found dead in stairwellPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A woman was arrested Saturday after her boyfriend was found dead in a Phoenix apartment complex.
The Phoenix Police Department arrested 24-year-old Ashley Eide on suspicion of manslaughter.
Just before 4 a.m., Phoenix police officers responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment complex at Indian School Road and 70th Avenue.
Police officers found a 26-year-old man with fatal stab wounds on a stairwell landing.
Police say Eide and the victim were in a romantic relationship, and his death appeared to be the result of a domestic violence incident.
Eide's 5-year-old child was present during the altercation but not harmed, police said.
A neighbor said the victim was a friendly guy, but he and Eide had a very rocky relationship.
The neighbor said he heard a gunshot and called 9-1-1.
He said when he looked out his window, he saw the victim on the stairwell landing.
"I thought the worst. I saw him lying there when I looked out the window and there wasn't anything I could do but call police, but when they got here it was already too late," said Luis Ramirez.
After interviewing Eide and witnesses and collecting physical evidence, police arrested Eide.
Their child was turned over to Child Protective Services.
The man's name was not released Saturday afternoon pending notification of family.
