PHOENIX -- Authorities said eight people were taken into custody after a lengthy barricade situation at a Phoenix apartment complex Thursday.

It occurred near Interstate 17 and Cactus Road.

United States Postal Inspection Service agents and Phoenix police officers served a search warrant related to mail theft on an apartment earlier in the day.

Tactical teams were called to the scene when the occupants refused to come out.

Authorities said the barricade situation lasted about eight hours.

"The search warrant is sealed at this time so I can't give you a lot of details on the specific investigation, but we did work with ... the Phoenix Police Department to safely come out and execute the warrant," said federal law enforcement agent Keith Moore.

Authorities said no one was injured.
