ELOY, Ariz. -- Pinal County Animal Care and Control officers said they rescued 32 small dogs from a hoarding situation southwest of Eloy.

The officers went to a home located in Silverbell Estates on Thursday after receiving a tip.

"This is clearly a case of hoarding," said Animal Care and Control Director Kaye Dickson. "The house had urine stains on the walls and many of the dogs had matted fur and were not in good condition."

Dickson said the dogs appeared to be poodle mixes.

Animal Care and Control staff will evaluate the animals and decide on a potential course of action.

The investigation will be forwarded over to the County Attorney's Office to see if charges will be filed.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office assisted in the rescue.
