Authorities investigate fatal house fire in Williams

WILLIAMS, Ariz. -- Authorities are investigating the cause of a fatal house fire that occurred near downtown Williams Thursday evening.

When fire crews searched the multi-story residence, they found an occupant still inside.

The Flagstaff Fire Department said the occpuant was pulled from the home but all life-saving attempts were unsuccessful.

The home and its contents, valued around $225,000, are a total loss, fire officials said.

The Williams Police Department, Williams Fire Department and Flagstaff Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire. Investigators say it does not appear to be arson.

No other injuries were reported.

The Flagstaff Fire Department is reminding members of the community to check their smoke detectors regularly and properly extinguish smoking materials.
