Undefeated Mountain Point HS on MaxPreps Tour of ChampionsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Mountain Pointe High School was presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy Friday as part of the ninth annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions.
With a 14-0 record, Mountain Pointe finished seventh in the final rankings and is one of 50 schools being honored on this season's tour.
On Nov. 30, The Pride won the Arizona Division I state championship, the school's first since it opened its doors in 1991.
3TV's Ryan O'Donnell talked to Bruce Kipper, Mountain Pointe's principal, about the incredible honor.
"Our kids are competing on a global scale now, whether it's academics, athletics, clubs," he said. "Whatever it is, it's a global world."
Kipper said he knew this class was special when they started as freshman.
"This is a very mature groups of kids," he told O'Donnell.
The MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard recognizes the finest high school football teams in the country through various celebrations and formal ceremonies. The Tour was inaugurated in 2005 and honored 10 premier football programs.
