PHOENIX -- Landlord-tenant disputes are always frustrating.

In November, 3 On Your Side reported on a water war between the residents of the Mirabella Apartments in Phoenix and their landlord.

The city of Phoenix shut off the water to the apartment complex after the owner failed to pay the bill, despite receiving payments from tenants.

A representative from the city visited the complex to explain the tenants' legal rights, and the situation was eventually resolved.

To help renters and property owners better understand their rights, the city of Phoenix is holding a free workshop Thursday.

Alma Lara, the city's community outreach supervisor, said the workshop will address a variety of topics such as repairs, security despoits and non-payment of rent.

The free workshop will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Adam Diaz Senior Center at 4115 W. Thomas Road in Phoenix.

"This is a state law, so we educate everyone," Lara said. "We encourage every one from every other city to come to our classes."
