SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Scottsdale Police Department is asking for public's help solving a stabbing that sent an elderly man to the hospital.
It happened just before 6 a.m. Monday near Hayden and Cactus roads.
A 75-year-old man was out walking and was about to cross Cactus Road in the crosswalk.
That's when a dark-colored, two-door vehicle, which had been speeding southbound on Hayden, came to a stop in front of the victim.
The driver jumped out and stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a small-bladed knife.
The suspect immediately got back into the car and sped off westbound on Cactus. He gave no indication as to why he might want to target the victim as nothing was taken or demanded.
The victim was able to walk home and then drove himself to the hospital. His injury is not life-threatening.
Police are hoping to hear from anyone in the area who might have seen the vehicle or witnessed the altercation.
