Man accused of fatally stabbing brother in Phoenix

PHOENIX – A man is accused of stabbing his brother during a fight Sunday night.

Roosevelt Mitchell Jr., 49, was booked into jail for second-degree murder.

Police responded to a stabbing at a home near Baseline Road and 15th Avenue at around 10:30 p.m.

According to Phoenix police spokesman Officer James Holmes, Mitchell and his 47-year-old brother, Kelvin, were involved in an altercation in the backyard and the younger man was stabbed at least once.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police recovered the suspected weapon.

The investigation is continuing.
