Scooter rider dies after collision at Paradise Valley intersection

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. – A person riding a scooter was killed in a collision in Paradise Valley Monday morning.
The collision occurred in the intersection of Tatum Boulevard and Lincoln Drive at approximately 7:30 a.m.
The intersection was closed in all directions while Paradise Valley and Scottsdale police conducted an investigation.
Lt. Michael Cole with the Paradise Valley Police Department said it appears the driver of a vehicle was traveling southbound on Tatum Boulevard waiting to make a left turn onto Lincoln Drive. The driver let several cars pass and then began to turn when he thought it was clear.
The vehicle was struck by a scooter traveling northbound on Tatum.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Martin William Crnarich, 49.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured. Police have not released the driver's name.
Cole said no charges are pending. The investigation is still ongoing.
