SAN CARLOS APACHE INDIAN RESERVATION, Ariz. -- Authorities say they have located and arrested the man who allegedly shot at a tribal police officer during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

Christopher Ellis Delmar, 31, is being charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.

About 1:30 a.m., a San Carlos Apache police officer stopped Delmar on the US-70 near Globe for a traffic violation, according to Police Chief Alejandro Benally.

Delmar allegedly fired his rifle at the officer.

The officer was not hit and returned fire on Delmar, who then fled in a Chrysler minivan registered to a Utah woman, Benally said.

The FBI and the Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted tribal police with the manhunt. The FBI is conducting the investigation.
