MESA, Ariz. -- The Dobson High School gym was cleared Friday night after a parent physically confronted a coach about a foul during a girls' basketball game, according to spectators.

Fans say the game between Dobson and Mesquite high schools was already a heated competition.

When a Mesquite player was fouled, her father reportedly ran onto the court and confronted the coach.

"(He) did a chest bump on him and security came and broke it up, but he kept on trying to get physical with all the security guards," a fan said.

As the confrontation escalated, people were cleared from the gym and the Mesa Police Department was called to the school.

Police say they have not made any arrests and have mainly been helping calm people down.

Dobson High School has not commented on the incident.
