PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff's Office narcotics detectives arrested two people after busting a meth buy in Phoenix.

Detectives received a tip that numerous street-level drug purchases have been occurring near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road, according to MCSO spokesman Officer Christopher Hegstrom.

Detectives conducted an undercover investigation in that area on Thursday and arrested Miguel Vasquez-Gastelum and Horacio Sanchez.

Detectives seized 6 pounds of methamphetamine with a retail value of more than $75,000, according to Hegstrom.

Vasquez-Gastelum and Sanchez face charges of possession of dangerous drugs for sale. Both suspects had ICE holds placed on them during the booking process.

Arpaio said his office is planning a new crime operation aimed at arresting people violating Arizona drug laws with an emphasis on reducing street-level drug violations.
