3OYS: Good Samaritan restores family's Christmas dreamPosted: Updated:
GILBERT, Ariz. -- A Gilbert family has learned an unforgettable lesson about good versus bad.
Just before Christmas, 3 On Your Side reported on an encounter Beth Glenn and her 10 children had with a real-life Grinch.
Before the holidays, Glenn searched Craigslist for deals on Disneyland tickets so she and her family could spend Christmas in "the happiest place on Earth."
She thought she found a great deal when a seller agreed to give her eight tickets for $550.
She wired the money to the seller but never received the tickets.
The Glenns were disappointed but refused to let the con artist steal their Christmas spirit.
"He's one person doing bad things and we're 12 people," Glenn told 3TV in December. "There will always be more good from us than will ever come from him, and that gives me a lot of hope."
But the Glenns will get their Disneyland trip after all, thanks to a generous Valley woman.
"When I saw the Channel 3 story, it made me very said," said Bonnijean, who did not want her face shown on-camera. "They wanted to go to Disneyland and I want to send them to Disneyland for Christmas."
She has never met the Glenn family but wrote them a check for $1,000.
“There are people out there that aren't Grinches," Bonnijean said. "There's people out there that are good. ... Good always overpowers the bad."
A 3 On Your Side producer delivered the check to the Glenns, who had no idea what they were receiving.
"Wow, that is just so sweet," Glenn said when she was handed the money.
The kids' faces lit up when their mother told them they were gifted a trip to Disneyland.
"It's just so nice to know that there are people like that in the world and not like the Grinch," one of the children said.
The family plans to leave for Disneyland on Monday.
