Woman fights back during purse-snatching in Pima CountyPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A 64-year-old woman fought back when a man tried to steal her purse outside a Subway restaurant north of Tucson, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 1, deputies responded to a strong-armed robbery outside the Subway at Sunrise Drive and Swan Road in the Catalina Foothills.
Deputies learned that the woman had left the restaurant when an unknown male tried to take her purse.
The victim grabbed the suspect by the hood of his sweatshirt and attempted to wrestle her purse back. A scuffle ensued and the suspect was able to get away with the woman's purse.
Sheriff's officials said the suspect was seen running to the west behind the Safeway shopping plaza. He drove away in a faded green Honda Civic with tinted windows.
The victim recovered her wallet and purse with nothing missing. She suffered minor injuries to her left arm and shoulder area during the scuffle.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
