SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A 74-year-old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle while at the Costco gas pumps near Hayden Road and Northsight Boulevard in Scottsdale Saturday afternoon.

According to Scottsdale police Officer David Pubins, an 86-year-old man driving a Jeep SUV backed into the woman's vehicle, which was parked at the pumps.

When the woman, Patricia A. Covault, of Fountain Hills, got out of her car to inspect the damage, she was struck by the Jeep as it backed over her.

Pubins said the Jeep dragged Covault for a short distance. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pubins said no criminal charges will be submitted on the driver of the Jeep.
